Clark signs with Eintracht Frankfurt

While we wait for news on Clint Dempsey, some good news for the US National team:

Various outlets, including Yanks Abroad are reporting that Ricardo Clark is close to signing with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt for the rest of the season.

Clark has played his entire 8-year professional career in MLS, the last 5 with the Houston Dynamo, but announced before his contract expired at the end of 2009 that he would not be returning to MLS and was pursuing options in Europe.

Eintracht Frankfurt was 13th in the Bundesliga last season, but currently sits 7th after last weekend’s action.

Clark, 26, made 11 appearances for the national team last year, starting 10 times. He has 27 caps overall, and has scored twice (including a game-winner in qualifying against Trinidad and Tobago). He received a red card in the Confederations Cup opener last season against Italy.

He is a contender, if not the favorite, to start in a holding midfield role for the US in South Africa, but has not played a competitive game since the end of the MLS season in November.
