SPA Daily: Mexican League Final, England, and World Wrap-Up

APER SOC SUAZO

On  Monday’s Set Piece Analysts daily, Kartik Krishnaiyer and Richard Farley review the 2009 Apertura’s final match:  Cruz Azul hosting Monterrey on Sunday for the second leg of the Mexican Primera Divisíon’s final.  Based on what we saw on Sunday, what can we say about the game in Mexico, the prospects  for some of the match’s stars, and what is in store for the Clausura.

Then, Richard and Kartik  switch to England to talk about a weekend that saw both Chelsea and Manchester United drop points, continuing what could be one of the most open Premier League campaigns in over  ten years. The duo take a look at Aston Villa, Tottenham, Manchester City and Liverpool and ask who is best situated to be the least’s fourth representative in next season’s Champions League.

Finally, Kartik and Richard give their thoughts on action in Germany, Spain, France, and Argentina.

    Hi Nelson:

Is this the Nelson that asked about the music on Inside the Six? If so, thanks for coming in this direction. Either way, thanks for commenting.

I will send a copy of your comment to our internal mailing list. Maybe this is something we can discuss on air.

Does anybody else have an opinion on this?

Meza’s mistake in this final was playing Mario Ortiz up front. Orozco would have been a much better choice. Heck, if Meza preferred Ortiz over guys like Zeballos, that pretty much confirms that Meza has little confidence in him and he’s probably on his way out.

Villa needed a second legitimate attacking threat up front to help loosen Monterrey’s defense.
